Control slopes and support your landscape.
Steep slopes and exposed soil banks can be difficult to maintain and may slowly erode away. In other situations, you may want to carve out a level area for parking, patios, or landscaping. Without some type of support, the ground simply won’t stay where you want it.
A well-built retaining wall helps control these issues by holding soil in place and creating more defined, usable spaces.
We start by evaluating the site, wall height, and what the wall needs to support. Cournaya’s Land Enhancement then excavates and prepares a compacted base, sets the first course of wall material correctly, and builds up with proper backfill and drainage behind the wall to help manage pressure over time.
Our focus is on creating a wall that looks good and is built to perform, not just stacked in place.
Cournaya’s Land Enhancement provides services across much of Michigan’s Thumb and surrounding areas. We regularly work throughout Tuscola, Sanilac, Lapeer, and St. Clair counties and in many of the communities in and around those counties.
We stand behind the work we do. Our guarantee is simple: we will show up when we say we will, do the work we agreed to, and walk the job with you before we leave. If something reasonable needs to be addressed related to the work we just completed, we will talk it through and make a plan to make it right.
Outdoor work is always at the mercy of weather and existing site conditions, but we do not disappear when the equipment leaves. If you have concerns about the workmanship on a recent project, contact us. We will review the site, explain what we are seeing, and discuss any adjustments that may be appropriate based on the original scope of work.
If erosion, steep grades, or wasted space are limiting how you can use your property, a retaining wall may be part of the solution. Contact Cournaya’s Land Enhancement, and we’ll review your site, discuss ideas, and provide a retaining wall plan and estimate.
Every job starts with a conversation. You tell us what is going wrong, how you use the property, and what you would like to change. We ask questions, look at any photos you have, and when needed schedule a visit so we can see the ground in person.
On site, we walk the area with you, point out problem spots, and talk through options. We explain what we recommend, why we recommend it, and how it will be done so you understand the plan before any equipment moves.
On delivery day, we bring the material with trucks sized for your property and access. We place piles where you can easily reach them with equipment or wheelbarrows, or where we will be grading if we are handling the spreading.
After delivery, we are available to answer questions about how to spread, compact, or maintain the material. If you decide you would like help with grading or additional work after seeing it on site, we can talk about next steps and schedule follow-up services.
We typically install block-style retaining wall systems and similar engineered products designed for structural walls. The best choice depends on wall height, loads, and the look you want. During your estimate, we’ll review material options and recommend what fits your project.
Yes. Managing water behind the wall is critical to its long-term performance. Without proper backfill and drainage, water pressure builds up and can push on the wall. We include drainage considerations in our installation so the wall has a better chance of staying put.
In many cases, yes. We can remove the failing wall and rebuild a new one with better base preparation and drainage. The exact approach depends on why the original wall failed and what the site conditions look like, which we’ll evaluate when we review your project.
Cournaya’s Land Enhancement is a family-run company that treats every property like our own. We focus on honest recommendations, practical solutions, and work that is built to handle real-world use, not just look good for a day. When you call us, you talk directly with the people who will be on your property, running the equipment and standing behind the results.
Our team is used to working on driveways, yards, fields, and rural properties across the area. We understand soft ground, standing water, and washed-out drives because we deal with them every season. That experience shows up in the way we plan each job and the small details that help your project hold up over time.
